Andrew Southerland, MD, MSc, is the Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor and executive vice chair in the Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia. He received his MD from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University as a Brody Scholar and completed neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship with a Master of Science in Clinical Research at the University of Virginia. His primary academic interests focus on acute stroke treatment, prehospital stroke care, novel applications of telemedicine and applying AI in clinical diagnosis in neurology.
