Trigeminal Neuralgia and Beyond; Diagnosis, Mechanism and Multidisciplinary Management of Facial Pain*
Date: October 18, 2026
Time: 11:45 am to 12:45 pm
Room: Coral 3
Track: Interactive Lunch Workshop (ILW)
Session Description
Facial pain disorders present significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Trigeminal neuralgia—one of the most severe forms of neuropathic pain—is frequently misdiagnosed due to overlapping features with other facial pain syndromes. This session will review the comprehensive evaluation and management of trigeminal neuralgia and related conditions, including trigeminal neuropathy. Participants will gain updated insights into current treatment approaches, including pharmacologic therapies, botulinum toxin, and surgical interventions.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Differentiate trigeminal neuralgia from other facial pain syndromes, including trigeminal neuropathy.
- Apply evidence-based diagnostic strategies in the evaluation of facial pain disorders.
- Assess current medical, botulinum toxin, and surgical treatment options for trigeminal neuralgia and related conditions.
