Clinician educators frequently develop innovative approaches to teaching, assessment, and curriculum design, yet dissemination of this work remains a challenge. Compared with traditional clinical or bench research, there is often less familiarity with how to design, position, and publish educational research in academic journals.
This session will discuss challenges to education scholarship, and strategies to overcome them and increase the likelihood of acceptance of educational articles.

In this presentation, Dr. Strowd will discuss how educational innovation is common in neurology training programs, but transforming teaching efforts into publishable scholarship can be challenging. This session will provide a practical roadmap for clinicians and educators interested in advancing medical education scholarship in neurology. Participants will learn strategies for identifying scholarly opportunities in everyday educational work, selecting appropriate study designs and outcomes, avoiding common pitfalls that limit publication success, and navigating the writing, submission, and revision process. Practical “pearls” drawn from real-world experience will focus on producing meaningful, rigorous, and publishable educational scholarship while balancing the demands of clinical and academic practice. This session is designed for faculty, fellows, residents, and educational leaders across all levels of scholarly experience.
In this presentation, Dr. Eugene will introduce the core principles of qualitative research, with a focus on its application in medical education.
