Sashank Prasad, MD

Sashank Prasad, MD, is Chief of Neurology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree in English at Yale University, graduating with honors. He then earned his medical degree at Penn, where he also completed training in neurology and fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and cognitive neurology.
Before returning to Penn, Dr. Prasad served as Vice Chair for Education in Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and Program Director of the Harvard BWH/MGH Neurology Residency Program.
A nationally recognized clinician-educator, he has received more than 10 institutional teaching awards, as well as national recognition from the American Academy of Neurology for leadership in residency education.
Dr. Prasad is especially committed to teaching neurology through clinical cases, using patients’ stories to illuminate anatomy, diagnosis and pathophysiology. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of Adams and Victor’s Principles of Neurology.
