Sami Barmada, MD, PhD, FANA

Sami Barmada, MD, PhD, FANA, received his MD and PhD from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his neurology residency and fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He moved to the University of Michigan as an assistant professor of neurology in 2013, was promoted to associate professor in 2020, became director of the University of Michigan Brain Bank in 2021 and an associate director of the MSTP in 2024. He earned the ASCI Young Physician Scientist Award in 2014, the ANA Derek Denny Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award in 2022 and the NINDS/NIH Jacob Javits Neuroscience Investigator Award in 2025.
