Olajide Williams, MD, MS, FANA, completed his medical degree at the University of Lagos, a Masters in Biostatistics from Columbia University, New York, and his medical residency and fellowship training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He is currently a tenured professor of neurology, Senior Vice Chair of Neurology, and Vice Dean of Community Health at Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. A stroke neurologist and community-based participatory researcher, he has led several NIH-funded research trials targeting stroke disparities. He is a well-published author, recipient of numerous national and international awards including the European Stroke Research Foundation Investigator of the Year award, Columbia University Outstanding Teacher of the Year award, and a National Humanism in Medicine Recognition from the Association of American Medical Colleges. Dr. Williams served on the Board of Directors for the Partnership of a Healthier America, a bipartisan nonprofit organization founded by former First Lady Michelle Obama. He co-founded Hip Hop Public Health with Hip Hop pioneer Doug E. Fresh, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to building health literacy in America’s urban schools.
