Nytzia E. Licona, DrPH, MPH, CCTDM, is a research program analyst and epidemiologist at the Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). She earned her Doctor of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. She also achieved her Clinical Trials Design and Management Certificate from the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension Silicon Valley. Dr. Licona specializes in epidemiological and clinical study design, data management and analysis and mixed-methods research. She has significant experience working with large healthcare datasets, advanced statistical methods, manuscript preparation and regulatory compliance. Her research primarily focuses on improving cognitive and functional outcomes for veterans and military service members with traumatic brain injury, with an emphasis on rehabilitation interventions. She serves as a Research Committee member for the Polytrauma System of Care and as program leader for the Summer Intern Research Program.
