Mark S. Wainwright, MD, PhD, FANA, is a Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at the University of Washington and serves as Division Chief of Neurology and Director of the Neurocritical Care Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital. He holds the Herman and Faye Sarkowsky Endowed Chair in Child Neurology. Dr. Wainwright is a pediatric neurologist with clinical expertise in neurocritical care, including the management of cardiac arrest, refractory status epilepticus, acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neurologic complications of critical illness such as sepsis and acute liver failure.
His research focuses on improving outcomes in critically ill children with neurologic injury, with particular emphasis on neuroinflammation, application of big data in pediatric critical care, and development of noninvasive neuromonitoring techniques in the ICU. Dr. Wainwright is board-certified in neurology with special qualification in child neurology and has held leadership roles advancing pediatric neuroscience and neurocritical care programs.
