Lisa Merlin, MD, FANA, trained at SUNY Downstate, completing medical school, neurology residency and a research fellowship in epilepsy and developmental disabilities. Her NIH-funded research on metabotropic glutamate receptors has advanced the understanding of epileptogenesis and she has mentored many trainees. A longtime NIH study section member, she is also a leader in medical education, developing innovative curricula and founding the Clinical Neurosciences Pathway. She established an advanced neurology residency at One Brooklyn Health to address community needs. Dr. Merlin has received national teaching awards and holds leadership roles in multiple academic and professional organizations and is a member of the ANA Awards Committee.
