James Siegler, MD, FAHA, specializes in vascular neurology, with a focus in managing atherosclerotic disease (a condition in which plaque develops within arteries in the head and neck) and strokes of unknown mechanism, otherwise known as cryptogenic strokes. In many of these patients, the risk of recurrent stroke is high, and aggressive interventions that can include the combination of blood thinners and endovascular therapies may be necessary.
Along with his dedication to his clinical practice, Dr. Siegler has more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, including original research manuscripts, reviews and textbook chapters. His work has been featured in Neurology, the premier journal of the American Academy of Neurology, Stroke, Stroke: Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and Journal of the American Heart Association—all of which are part of the American Heart Association journal family. His research investigates atherosclerotic disease, perfusion imaging and the eligibility of neurointervention for acute intracranial occlusion to improve care for his patients.
