Giovanna S. Manzano, MD, is an HS assistant professor of neurology at University of California Irvine (UCI), where she practices as a neuroimmunologist/MS specialist. She completed her training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Her clinical interests span beyond CNS demyelinating disorders, encompassing neurorheumatologic disorders, autoimmune/paraneoplastic encephalitis/cerebellitis and central nervous system toxicities resultant from immunotherapies. In research, she aims to optimize the approach to diagnosis and management of neuroimmunologic diseases, while emphasizing the integration of patient reported outcomes and a collaborative multi-disciplinary framework for care delivery. She has authored numerous publications in high-impact journals and texts. While formerly the inaugural Director of Quality Improvement for the MGH Neuroimmunology Division, she implemented impactful local institutional protocols. She now serves on local quality and safety committees at UCI Health. Nationally, she is a recognized clinician-educator, having received prestigious teaching awards including the AAN A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award.
