Evangelos Kiskinis, PhD

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Evangelos Kiskinis, PhD, is a tenured associate professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neuroscience at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where he also serves as Scientific Director of the Stem Cell Core Facility. He is also the Scientific Director of the Live Like Lou ALS Foundation and a scientific co-founder of NuCyRNA Therapeutics, a biotechnology company developing next-generation oligonucleotide therapeutics for neurological disease. He trained in developmental biology at Imperial College London and completed postdoctoral training in stem cell biology and neuroscience with Kevin Eggan at Harvard University and the Broad Institute.
Dr. Kiskinis’ laboratory develops human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based models to investigate mechanisms of neuronal dysfunction in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and related neurological disorders. His work has provided key insights into convergent disease mechanisms in ALS, including TDP-43 dysfunction, RNA metabolism, neuronal hyperexcitability, nucleocytoplasmic transport defects, impaired proteostasis, and neuroimmune signaling. His studies contributed to one of the first iPSC-based therapeutic translation.
