Amy Bany Adams, PhD

Amy Bany Adams, PhD, serves as acting director and deputy director of NINDS where she works to advance the mission of the Institute to improve fundamental knowledge about the brain and the nervous system and to use that knowledge to reduce the burden of neurological disorders. She served in multiple senior scientific, operational and communication leadership roles since joining NINDS in 2013, and she has worked at NIH since 2004. Dr. Adams earned her PhD in cell biology from the Yale University School of Medicine, where her research focused on the genetic and cellular basis for neurotransmitter control of behavior in C. elegans. She received her BS in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
