Aimee Kao, MD, PhD, is the French Foundation Endowed Professor of Neurology and Director of the UCSF MSTP. Her lab investigates basic mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, focusing on how aging, stress and gene mutations disrupt lysosomal function and protein homeostasis. She holds multiple government, private foundation and industry research grants. Her awards include the Paul Allen Distinguished Investigator Award, the Glenn Award for Aging Research and the ANA’s Derek Denny Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award.
