Zhicheng Jiao, PhD

Brown University Health
Zhicheng Jiao, PhD, is principal investigator and director of the Brown Radiology AI Lab and Brown Imaging Core at Brown University. He is an assistant professor whose research focuses on medical imaging AI, multimodal learning, and foundation models for healthcare. His work aims to develop clinically useful AI systems that integrate imaging with complementary data sources, including radiology reports, pathology, genomics, liquid biopsy, electronic health records, and physiologic sensing, to improve diagnosis, prognosis, treatment assessment, and translational decision-making.
His recent research particularly emphasizes the evolution of brain and body imaging AI from conventional deep learning models toward more generalizable, interpretable, and data-efficient multimodal foundation-model frameworks. This includes work on radiology vision-language models, multimodal fusion of imaging and molecular biomarkers, and clinically grounded AI pipelines designed for real-world deployment and validation. Dr. Jiao’s work has been widely published in leading conferences and high-impact journals, and has been supported by the NIH, NSF, DoD, Bank of America Private Bank, and Brown University.
