Shilpa Chitnis, MD, PhD, is professor and (interim) chair of neurology at UT Tyler, School of Medicine in Tyler, Texas. She is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in movement disorders. She is also residency program director for the neurology residency program at the school of medicine. She was associate residency program director and movement disorders fellowship director at UT Southwestern, as well as director of the faculty mentoring program for the Department of Neurology. She is intricately involved in education and teaching and has developed many original courses including an online one (during the pandemic) called TEAMS for national movement disorders fellowship education. She is the co-chair of the San Francisco match committee overseeing the national movement disorders fellowships. She developed the neuromodulation program at UT Southwestern for streamlining surgical evaluation and management of patients with movement disorders undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) or other advanced therapies.
