Sara Pavitt, MD

Sara Pavitt, MD, is a board-certified pediatric neurologist and headache specialist. Dr. Pavitt earned a dual bachelor’s degree in physiology and psychology as well as a certificate in neuroscience from the University of Colorado. She earned her medical degree from Chicago Medical School. She completed a residency in child neurology at Stanford University where she served as chief resident and a fellowship in pediatric headache at The University of California, San Francisco. She joined the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children’s in 2021 where she currently serves as Chief of Pediatric Neurology.
Dr. Pavitt’s clinical interests include headache medicine, as disabilities from primary headache disorders are often under-recognized in children and adolescents. She believes in the importance of providing patients with an appropriate diagnosis and developing individualized, holistic treatment plans that include both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic strategies that can become lifelong resources for the patient. Her clinical research is focused on evaluating clinical outcomes of current migraine treatments within the pediatric population and developing new treatment options for primary headache disorders.
