Mohammadsobhan Andalibi, MD (2026 SIG Oral Presenter)

University of California, San Diego
Mohammadsobhan Andalibi, MD, is a physician-scientist and postdoctoral scholar at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Center and the Knight Lab at the University of California, San Diego. After earning his MD, he began his career in the epidemiology of neurological and vascular disorders before moving into microbiome research. He now studies how the interaction of gut and circulating microbiome, systemic inflammation and biological aging shapes brain health in people with HIV, combining metagenomics with computational analysis. He completed UC San Diego’s Interdisciplinary Research Fellowship in NeuroAIDS (IRFN) and is a current scholar in its Sustained Training in Aging and HIV Research (STAHR) program. He has authored around 50 peer-reviewed articles and serves on the editorial boards of Brain, Behavior, and Immunity and PLOS One. He has also presented at major international meetings, including the annual meetings of the American Neurological Association (ANA) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), and the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI). His broader goal is to define the determinants and mechanisms of brain health phenotypes in the aging population, and to translate that understanding into earlier recognition and improved patient care.
