“Masoom Desai, MD, FACNS, FANA, is a board-certified neurologist, neuro-intensivist, neurophysiologist, and ICU electroencephalographer at the University of New Mexico, where she joined the faculty in 2021. She completed fellowship training in neurocritical care at the University of Maryland and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and advanced training in critical care EEG and clinical neurophysiology at Northwestern University. She also has a background in data science.
Committed to excellence in patient care, education, and mentorship, Dr. Desai focuses on precision and personalized medicine, emphasizing shared decision-making and compassionate care for patients and families facing critical neurological illness. Her research centers on multimodal neuromonitoring, biomarker discovery, and informatics-driven analysis of complex clinical data to improve outcomes in acute brain injury. Her areas of expertise include status epilepticus, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, neuro-emergencies, EEG applications, acute liver failure, and critical care interventions. She has led multiple multicenter clinical trials and collaborative research initiatives.”
