Joshua Shulman, MD, PhD

Baylor College of Medicine
Joshua M. Shulman, MD, PhD, is Professor of Neurology, Neuroscience, and Molecular & Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, where he holds the Effie Marie Cain Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease Research and the Huffington Foundation Chair in Parkinson’s Disease Research. He serves as co-director of the Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital and director of the Baylor Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases. Dr. Shulman received his AB in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College, a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge, and his MD from Harvard Medical School. He completed neurology residency and fellowship training in the Harvard/Partners Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Shulman’s research bridges human and experimental genetics to uncover the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease. By integrating large-scale human genomic studies with functional genomic approaches in model organisms such as Drosophila, his work aims to define disease pathways, resolve clinical heterogeneity, and advance precision medicine for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
