David Bearden, MD, MSCE

David Bearden, MD, MSCE, leads research efforts in sub-Saharan Africa examining the neurologic and psychiatric effects of HIV in children and adolescents, with a focus on cognitive development and long-term outcomes. He has worked in sub-Saharan Africa for more than 15 years, including work in Liberia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia, and collaborates closely with partners in Zambia to build sustainable research and clinical infrastructure.
In parallel, he leads translational research in rare genetic disorders and was the principal investigator in Zambia for the International Center for Genomic Research on Neuromuscular Disorders. His work bridges clinical care, global health and precision medicine to advance treatments for underserved populations worldwide.
