Cathy Sila, MD, FAAN, FAHA, is the Gilbert W. Humphrey Endowed Professor in Neurology and Chair of the Department of Neurology at University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She is a recognized expert in neurologic complications of cardiac disorders and procedures and the prevention and treatment of stroke. As the first woman chair and neurologist-in-chief at UH/CWRU, her priorities include ensuring access to innovative research and high-value care integrated throughout the health system and promoting the careers of the next generation through training opportunities and mentorship.
Dr. Sila graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Miami University, received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University SOM, and resident and fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, Cerebrovascular Research Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and the Hedwig van Amerigen Fellowship for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) program at Drexel University. She has extensive clinical research, administration, Core Lab and DSMB experience for more than 100 clinical trials and expert advisor for the FDA, CMS, NINDS, and emerging therapeutics.
